HOW TO CHOOSE

Four steps

A general thought process that works for both savings plans and critical illness cover.

01

Define the need

Start with the goal: long-term growth, education funding, retirement income, or illness protection. The need determines the plan type.

02

Understand the structure

Separate guaranteed from non-guaranteed, and check the premium term, policy currency and surrender value curve — don't just look at the illustrated total.

03

Compare sideways

For the same need, compare two or three insurers' equivalent plans line by line: IRR, coverage scope and dividend history.

04

Confirm the application

Check the benefit illustration and policy terms, understand the cooling-off period and payment arrangements, then complete the application.
